and they just keep coming
Roommate: (in regards to the new pedometer program at our gym, with prize incentives for every 100,000 steps taken) Oh man I forgot to record my steps today. First world problems. Only Americans would need pedometers. African children take like 30,000 steps a day as they go get their diseased water. And then they carry it on their heads.

Me: Man, you chugged that hot chocolate.
Roommate: I know, now my belly feels so warm. I think I must have had like 300 mL.
Roommate: Did you scream in the middle of the night last night?
Me: No, not that I know of?
Roommate: Okay well actually you did and it sounded like this (proceeds to demonstrate)
Roommate: (while caressing face with washcloth) The Coriolis Effect, the Coriolis...

50 Things You Need To Give Up Today →
healthylivingforyou:
halfhissize:
Give up trying to be perfect. – The real world doesn’t reward perfectionists, it rewards people who get things done.
Give up comparing yourself to others. – The only person you are competing against is yourself.
Give up dwelling on the past or worrying too much about the future. – Right now is the only moment guaranteed to you. Right now is life. Don’t...

Anonymous asked: I'm really sorry about what's happening in Honduras, and I hope you're ok. I've been to Honduras on several service trips and I felt the same irrational safety you mentioned, even though I knew San Pedro Sula was the murder capitol of the Americas, even as I aided in gunshot wound surgeries. But this last time I went, a drug dealer and his men followed us home, drunk and armed,...
aballadofloveandhate asked: I'm very sorry to hear about those events in Honduras :( I heard about the prison fire and though of you. My first concern though will always be that you're safe when you go there, so as your friend that is all very worrisome too :(

Heavy heart tonight.
I’ve always known the situation in Honduras was dangerous, but honestly it’s never really worried me. I’ve felt anxious before when out in the streets, in the mall, in stores…and I constantly feel on my guard there, even when in “safe” places. But the danger has always felt somehow distant. Even when I had my wallet stolen, I wasn’t disheartened. Even...
In 2 weeks I'll be in Florida
YES.
larouteouvert asked: What are we doing for campus golf? :P
j4moreira asked: Hi girl...you are so Beatiful :)
I always eat a lot of candy at CPALs. The board keeps the candy bucket stocked and I just can never help myself. Tonight they also gave us cookies and promised us ice cream for next time. I swear I talked about food for half the time tonight. The Honduran guy I tutor was like, “Comes mucho pero no eres gorda. Corres?” I told him no and he just shook his head and said he has to run...

Successful V-Day
My boyfriend skipped his classes and borrowed his friend’s car to come see me today. He brought me a dozen orange-ish roses (well, it actually ended up being 15 roses) and a big bag of Reese’s. We went to lunch at Plaza Azteca, which is always delicious and way better than other Mexican places because of the white sauce they serve with the chips. Then I got a nosebleed and had to...

Why is it that college campuses are perpetually...
The noise outside my window is driving me insane. There is construction on literally every side of my dorm, so any way you go out you still have to avoid it. It’s been like this since November.

I've spent the evening looking at study abroad...
I just can’t seem to let it go. I missed my school’s deadline for summer, of course, due to my inability to make a decision. I just can’t commit to anything without being sure I’ve thoroughly weighed every other possible option, and that couldn’t have been done by their deadline. My roommate often faces the same plight, and finally discovered the term for what we...
Self-righteousness is quite possibly the most hideous trait a person can have, in my opinion.

My bangs are so horribly uneven. Desperately wishing I knew someone who knew how to cut them, because goodness knows I’m not going to attempt it myself and it just doesn’t seem practical to pay for a haircut when only my bangs are the issue.
Third Eye Blind is coming to my school tonight, so I’ll be going to that. I think this is technically my first real concert.

Talking to Maynor through one of his friends who randomly added me on Facebook. This is the first contact I’ve had with him in months! I’ll take it, even if it is through someone else. My heart is literally swelling in my chest right now. I can’t put into words how much I miss him and my other boys.

My friend Carly is going back down on the 11th, so I’m mailing her some letters to take down to my boys. Looks like I won’t be able to get back down there until August. :(

Feeling some intense nostalgia right now.
In kindergarten, every kid had a 5th grade “reading buddy” who would come in once a week and read to you for a class period. Mine was the older sister of one of my then-classmates. I didn’t keep in touch with either of them after middle school, when the younger sister and I went to different high schools. But I had gone all through school with her, and knew her family, and we...

Worked out for 2 hours today
Yay for gorgeous weather in wintertime! An hour of pilates, a run, and quite a bit of walking. I’m going to be dead tomorrow but it feels so good tonight. I feel like my spring break goal is within reach.

I really don't like Don Quixote.
I find it pedantic and exceedingly dull. Which are very much my feelings on this entire Cervantes y El Greco class. It isn’t useful, and I don’t find it the least bit interesting. It just strikes me as impractical.
